Kirkland Half course!

This is the course for the 1/2 I am running this coming weekend. Pretty darn excited about it!

Went 11.4 miles today ran with my friend Kalei she had to slow down for me, but it was great to run with her!

calories burned: 1650
I was running faster than I normally would, so we met somewhere in the middle - although I did have to walk a bit more than usual cuz my heart rate would get up there! But so cool to do this with friends!

Can't wait for next weekend: Not only am I running with lots of people from the RTH / RTB teams I am also running with two friends from highschool! Yeah!! So cool. I am trying to convince them both to do the Full Marathon...

Ok really stupid question, but how are you figuring your calories burned? Do you have a counter? Or do you just estimate based on distance?
thank you for elightening your non-marathon friend.

I have a heart rate monitor - one of the cool things I finally broke down and bought cuz "all the cool runners have them!" just joking... obviously you don't have to have one - but now that I do I would recommend to anyone that is running at all to get one. You put in your age, and weight, and height and it spits out your calories after your work out. For me it helps me be in my "zone" when I work out. If my heart rate is too high, I know I can't do a long distance... if it is too low than I am not working hard enough, so I try to keep it in my zone. I am still learning about it, it actually does more, but I haven't figured it all out yet! So that is how I get the calories burned. The real cool runners have an actual gps on their heart rate monitor and so it tracks EXACTLY how far they go - maybe after the marathon I will get one.... my accomplishment prize! Along with better health and the massage I want! I think I should get a message? After running 26.2 you might have to wheel me to a spa!
